Why Nigeria is Still Poor, by CBN Gov

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has attributed the continuous poverty in the country to bad governance and its attendant misplaced priorities, corruption and huge debt burden.
Sanusi, who stated this yesterday during a conference on effective strategies for reducing poverty and scaling up implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria, organised by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), also gave non-competitiveness of Nigerian goods in the international markets, few economic opportunities, conflict and violence, huge debt burden, low productivity, high rate of population growth, and suboptimal human capital as part of the poverty problem in the country.

Why Nigeria May Continue to Experience Air Crashes

It has emerged that one of the major problems of ineffective maintenance of aircraft operated by some local carriers is poor inspection by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The regulatory body is reputed to have inadequate number of inspectors in its Directorate of Airworthiness Standards  and many, who  are already on the job are old. Even though the old ones have the desired experience, they lack the motivation to work due to poor remuneration.
NCAA  is believed not to be able to attract young, active inspectors because of the relatively poor salary designed for these inspectors. As such, it is only able to attract those, who have retired from active service and lack the vigour to carry out the physical strain which the job entails.

Questions Women Should Avoid Asking Men In Relationships

By the way, have you ever realized how angry a man can get when you ask too many questions at a time? When it comes to relationships, most women want to know everything that a man is thinking.
But here is the truth and from a man’s perspective, there are 4 questions I think women should really avoid asking their men while in a relationship because the answers you get are basically those aimed at pleasing you but not the whole TRUTH.

The education reform in Osun

THE controversy embroiling education reform in the State of Osun is needless, if not contrived. It tends to reduce the significance of what Governor Rauf Aregbesola is trying to achieve in restoring the lost glory of education in the state. While it is perfectly in order for citizens or groups to show concern over the activities in the sector, bearing in mind that everyone is a stakeholder, the concern should be expressed with a view to preserving and indeed complementing government’s efforts at revamping education. In any case, the critics of government should not be perceived as throwing the baby away with the bath water. The state of education, throughout the country is pathetic; such that any serious attempt by a government to redress it deserves the support of the people.

When 150 virgins stormed Lagos

Lagos recently witnessed a remarkable day. Not many expected it but it came with its flurry of activities. It was a day the youths – boys and girls in their large numbers – converged on the city to prove that in a sex-soaked society, there were still a good number of them, who were still virgins.
As part of the events lined up for the day, a group of choreographers, Alien Nation, made up of gospel hip hop artistes, performed: "Don't mess with my body; my body is the lord's sanctuary," one of the very instructive works of the Trin-e-tee 5:7.
